Our Story
1967
Donnie Earnhardt founded Earnhardt Grading in 1962. He transitioned from being a custom farmer to grading because of the lack of rental farm land available. Pictured here is the first Motor Grader that was purchased.
1970s
Earnhardt completed its first major project for Duke Energy, raising a dam above an impoundment.
1980s
We constructed our first lined landfill for a private waste company—the first of its kind in North Carolina.
1990s
Throughout the 1990s, we expanded both our fleet and our team, offering full turnkey site work packages to a growing client base.
2000s
As technology advanced, we upgraded our equipment with GPS systems to enhance precision and productivity.
2010s
In 2017, we proudly celebrated 55 years in business. During this decade, we reached a major safety milestone: 1 million man-hours without a lost time incident, recognized by the NCDOL.
2020s
We celebrated 60 years in 2022, marking our continued growth into the largest and most capable version of Earnhardt Grading yet—both in manpower and operational capacity.
